Preparations Continue: my first spin with BOB

When we got the BOB trailer it only came with one axle to connect it to the bike. That of course meant that when we went out to Bird's Hill to try out the trailer last week, Saroja was the one pulling the trailer for all the loops, while I got to play with the GPS. Rather than switch the axle from one bike to another, we figured we would buy a second one. Now that I have my very own axle to attach the BOB trailer to my bike, I took it out for a spin around the block today. It was a little bit wobbly - more so with a cross breeze - but overall not too bad. The roads around here are pretty flat so luckily I only had to climb one small hill...

I've also been playing with a lot of gadgets. Trying to download the maps for Europe to the Garmin Touring GPS was a huge pain, but I did find some pretty nice Android apps for offline maps as backups. Saroja's favorite app so far is one from Sony where we can use our smartphone to remotely control the camera. It's pretty cool!!!

Everything is coming together though! Things are looking better for fitting everything into the BOB bag. And we've got just about all the gear we need or want. Even Saroja said she didn't want to go back to MEC again, which would be like me saying that I don't want any more chocolate. It just doesn't happen.

So, for better or worse, we're on the home stretch! Fingers crossed that we get the last few things checked off the list this week!

Cheers,
Penguin
